Cuff'D | adidas Tubular Doom PK KITH
Okay, so there are a few things I want to explain regarding the workings of BigFeetFootWork.
So, if you have been following B-Double F-Dub on social media, mainly Instagram (@bigfeetfootwork) then you've seen quite a few posts today, both in the picture feed & the InstaStory feed regarding a new acquisition made on today. I'll get to that in a minute...
Also, if you're a visitor of the site, I hope that you've taken the time to surf around, especially the "B.F.F.W. Hit List" page. That page is specifically a place where I post shoes that I am personally on the hunt for. Whether they be new, old, many or a few. It's quite the list & it'd be amazing if I could be able to complete the list within a year's time or so. But, as far as I can get will be suffice, cause I understand some of those just aren't around anymore or are probably out of my league.
Well, thanks to a great friend of mine, I was able to acquire the very first shoe pictured on the Hit List, so I figure I may go in order, (or not; it's spontaneous-ism that will be more organic).
So, with that, I introduce the 1st 'culprit' from the BFFW Hit List: The adidas Tubular Doom PK KITH.
Released on January 23rd 2016, this collaboration between adidas and Ronnie Fieg, owner & founder of KITH was the first of a 12-month World Tour campaign presented by adidas Consortium. It caused quite the ruckus as hundreds upon hundreds braved the snow storm of NYC to wait in line to grab a pair of this coveted sneaker.
This model of the Tubular Doom series comes constructed with a full grey Primeknit upper, encased by a charcoal wool cage for warmth, something Ronnie added as he was inspired by the unforgiving concrete jungle NYC can be in the winter. More added comforts come in the form of elastic straps at the forefoot & quarter panel.
The iconic Primeknit acts as a sock liner extending up to the ankle area, for a secure fit. To finish off this collab, Ronnie's slogan "Just Us" adorns the heel guard, with the adidas Consortium tags on the upper of the shoes, one featuring the Trefoil, the other with Fieg's initials, all atop a Tubular sole unit, as the midsole & outsole.
Almost a year to the day, I can say that having these are great. They look much better in hand, as I feel all shoes do. But, what's the biggest thing is: they are Tubulars at heart. The Tubular line is what brought me back to loving adidas in the first place. From the first time I saw them I knew that Three Stripes was about to do something revolutionary. With every great entity, there's a time that comes along when it's there time to shine. This foreshadowed what is now perhaps the greatest lifetime in all of sneakers, as adidas reigns supreme. At this rate, the torch may be passed. Until we know for sure, let's enjoy this wave the Trefoil is blessing us all with. And with that, consider this......
