Clemson Tigers 'roll' over Alabama to win National Championship
Sweet Revenge.
And what a win it was. Outscoring the Crimson Tide 21-7 in the 4th Quarter, a "comeback kid" story played out by Deshaun Watson, who totaled 443 yards for the entire game, Clemson returns to the CFP Championship game to avenge their lost last year.
Stopping the almighty Sabin Dynasty, and putting an end to what would've been a record-setting perfect season, Clemson pulled it through in what will be considered one of the most dramatic finishes to a football game ever. With just under 2 minutes left, the Tigers drove down the field into FG territory thanks to a 24-yard completion pass to Mike Williams, followed by a 17-yard pass to Jordan Leggett, putting them in scoring position.
An act of God as some would say, in the form of a pass interference call on 'Bama put Watson & company at the 2-yard line. Pretty much the proverbial 'stick a fork in it cause its done', as it was only a matter of time before a man-to-man defensive miscue allowed Deshaun Watson to throw the game winning TD into the hands of Hunter Renfrow, securing the game, the title & that remdemption that Clemson had been wanting since last year.
It was truly an amazing game. One for the ages. Congratulations to the Clemson Tigers & to Clemson, South Carolina. We can pretty much guess how next year will play out: the rubber match between these 2 powerhouse clubs.
