#KnownUnknownSeries | Fear Of God by Jerry Lorenzo

Here at BigFeetFootWork, we want to stress the importance of footwear in the community of larger sized feet, as well as innovators & creators that are on the rise to prominence. Of course, our main basis being large feet, as I myself have, we want to also showcase different persons and their brand(s) that are making noise in the industry & have their "it" factor which makes them stand out. Thus, we've entitled this feature series the "Known Unknown Series". We hope that this can help bring some light on a world so consumed with the normal & complacency of already-existing brands.

We begin by introducing a brand founded in 2011 by artist & designer Jerry Lorenzo, based out of California, called Fear Of God.

Now originally, this brand looked to be somewhat similar to a lot of high-end brands that gave the look, yet had an H&M-esque feel to them. In doing further research, however, we found that Fear of God was totally different. It is a brand that has been able to blur the line between expensive garbs and aesthetically sound fashion.

The brand itself isn't any kind of rocker-punk-band brand, & despite the name, it's not even a Christian or faith-based brand. But, as Jerry himself puts it: "It's denim, fabrics, nylon, its bombers, but it's His Hand & His grace that are on it; this is God's brand."

Myself being a person of strong faith & having a foundation in that for everything I do, I take great comfort personally, in seeing that there is a brand that is bold enough to not only stand firm on it's goal, but to do it well & garner much attention from the world. And, for Jerry, a chance encounter with Kanye West certainly helps the situation also. And FOG is indeed growing more & more; from apparel, to being the official supplier of merchandise for Justin Bieber's highly talked about Purpose Tour (and the tour was probably talked about more not so much cause of Justin, but because of the merchandise/apparel in correlation to the tour), to even taking a stab at creating footwear.

And it looks like Jerry knows what he's doing.

I first saw teaser pictures of a sneaker on Instagram (fearofgod) and I was immediately intrigued with what I saw. I had hoped that I could get more info regarding these sneakers. They definitely have a look unlike anything I've seen, though most people who know footwear at first glance would probably compare these to a Raf Owens type sneaker, however with looking further into the build of these, you'll see that it has a style all its own.

Aside from the inside zipper (which is a plus, considering any footwear with zippers are cool to me) & the removable ankle strap, the sole is what stands out the most. It is like a performance sole, yet it has the attributes of a boot/military themed shoe, by how it's thick in the rear & thinner as it goes towards the front, with what I call a "tooth" bottom, giving it an added plus in traction when dealing with tougher terrains for extra grip.

Delivered in various solid colors, from olive to cream, & deep red, I am hoping that more footwear will come from Jerry & FOG.

Expect these to drop some time in the first quarter, as well as look our for an extension of the line, simply entitled F.O.G., coming to PacSun retailers.
