#KnownUnknownSeries | TI:ME by Ryan Dougherty
Next up in our 'Known Unknown Series', we bring to you: TI:ME Footwear by Ryan Dougherty.
I gotta be honest, I was straight hooked when I found out about this brand. Although I'm not sure how I exactly stumbled upon them though.
I came across their Kickstarted page (probably from a link from Facebook), and I decided to heck them out, considering I love all things Kickstarter. I checked out their video & fell in love with their brand...but, what impressed me even more was, of course the product. Take a look at the initial line-up from TI:ME Footwear:
Now at first glance these look like any other start-up footwear brand trying to break in. Or maybe it's just a personal endeavor of someone hoping that they can turn a hobby into a passion & turn that dream into reality. Luckily, at B-Double F-Dub (yes, that's how I say my company name for short-hand), I did my research. Reading into their campaign what I found was a brand that is unlike any other & quite possibly, on its way to becoming a force to be reckoned with in the footwear industry.
First off: TI:ME has been able to deliver right on the line between casual couture & luxury sneaker. They have done so by introducing 3 models, low, mid & hi, in very beautiful black premium leather. From that point on...for everything else you may think is in these shoes. It gets unconventional from here. Even the brand themselves call their shoes "High Performance Relaxation Slippers".
Wait......SLIPPERS?!?!?
That's right. The inner core of these sneakers are just that; a slipper that is built to deliver the highest level of comfort. I mean, these things have:
Flexible insoles that still hold up in durability
7mm Sumo Stretch elastic lacing, taking away the hassle of regular lacing thus allowing more give when walking
Yoga mat insoles (THIS was the selling point for me) = Ultimate Comfort
Plush wool lining
The hi-top model includes an ankle strap and also features an open V-cut on the rear, providing easy slip-on & off access, & keep the element of being a slipper alive.
The low-top model includes a pull heel tab that also can be molded onto the footbed, converting it into an actual slipper shoe. I mean, I could go on & on, but I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves.
I definitely plan on grabbing a pair of these (if they fit) in the near future. I believe the sneaker world is already shifting to not just appearance & style, but, also comfort. Comfort will be king in the next 10 years of the footwear industry.
And TI:ME Footwear is already in the know & on the path to success.
